Hot Tips
Duct tape
by: johnsowi@cherokee.nsuok.edu
04/30/1998 - Yet another use for "Duck" tape. I have found that duct tape makes a great chain stay protector. First estimate the length of the chain stay and rip off a piece of tape that length. Center the tape on the chain stay length wise and carefully press the tape downuntil the wrinkles are gone. Repeat the process two more times for three layers of cushioned protection. This method of protection lastsfor about a year and is very cheap.

Rack Straps

03/23/1998 - If you use a bike carrier that mounts on the back of your car, instead of using bungee cords, use old tubes. They are way more reliable and easy to use.

Fixing Flats 1
by: Unknown
07/23/98 - 1st make a tourniquet were the hole is with a small green stick. Next insert the hole setup into the tire and inflate if needed

Fixing Flats 2

07/23/98 - Use a piece of tacky bubble gum held in place by the pressure of the tire and inner tube. This is a delicate patch that will be temporary. You may aslo use duct tape, tar, etc.

Trails Around Arizona
So. Mtn Desert Classic

Park Name: South Mountain
City: Ahwatukee (Phoenix)

03/23/1998 - To get to: ask someone else (it's somewhat complicated) Trail: Go under Ramadas to left. It's the only real trail and marked very well. For the most part, it's an easy ride. Some washes (big gap between what should be flat land) are steep (2-4) butextremely easy. This is rally a beginner/intermediate course. The only problem is that distances seem shorter than they are. If you'renot from around here, you'll hear about the "watertank" which you can't see, so don't try to guess where it is. Once you're near there, you'll ride along-side one extremely nice-as-hell house. To get up this 30 ft hill, just relax......start out in 6th or 7th gear, and shift to 3rdgear once your front tire starts going up. You should have no problem making it. From there you can go on, past the BMX jumps or turnback. (I would suggest to go back, unless you think it'd be cool to go to the "helicopter pad" and back, OR go up a steep trail and OVER the top of the mountain for an indecent, descent

07/21/98 - To get to: Take I-17 to the NewRiver Exit, make left heading down the rd. towards lake plesant approx 5 mile down the rd. the trial head will appear (note: these facilites are set up for horses). From here you can head South or North on the trial. The trail consists of four wheel drvie trails and single track. Some sections are pretty rocky and steep (too step for a bike to climb), but the trial is well marked with signs. If heading towards the North you will encounter a loop in which you can take back to were you have parked. In this area there are many other roads to be found to explore.

Follow the most used trail until you get to another gate, step over gate and stay along the fence until you get to large dirt birm, take a right on top of the birm and step over the marked "GATE 5".
